Catching Elephant is a theme by Andy Taylor
“Who, me? Nah, I’m just a worm.”
No single perfect man tears for Paul Wesley. He cries perfect man rivers.
Goodbye, Maurice, id of children, uncompromisingly beautiful, strange, mean, sweet, deep, dark, and true.
Via “N222011,” this is from “Tell Them Anything You Want,” a beautiful film by Lance Bangs and Spike Jonze.
(Double-heart-rendingly, it was and is distributed by Adam Yauch’s company Oscilloscope.)
That is all.
“I cry a lot because I miss people. They die and I can’t stop them. They leave me and I love them more.” —Maurice Sendak

I need to get back to my episode scoring, but just for a moment with the season finale coming up, a small appreciation in case you need a reminder:

Case closed.

Funny convo with @popcultureme
You were so right. And look! Someone’s about to honk some boobies!
Am I the only person on the internet to make a (very bad) memorial to the most recently deceased, probably least-popular Original?

Why, yes, I probably am. Ah well, at least he got to experience tequila before he went.
From the episode losers, on to the winners! Remember, tallies start at a 10 blood bag baseline.
Elena

Cares enough to bring muffins to murderers +1
Damon stonewalls her from seeing Alaric -1
Has to tell Caroline that Alaric’s evil side killed her father -1
Convinces Caroline to forgive Alaric +2
Wants to stop the plan to kill the Originals when Damon is captured +2 for loyalty; -1 for attempted plan ruining; so +1
Stefan won’t agree to stop the plan -3
Shoots Finn with crossbow +4
…was she supposed to miss his heart? -2
With Stefan and Caroline, figures out killing an Original kills every vampire they’ve sired +1
Stefan admits he still loves her +3
Can’t deny her feelings for Damon to Stefan -2
Score: 13 blood bags
Excellent advice.

Aaand, we’re back! When we last left the by-now-75%-vampire population of Mystic Falls, Damon had eeked out a meager episode victory mainly due to halfway decent planning under pressure, brotherly loyalty, and sheer snarkiness. In “1912” I think we all know who loses (poor Alaric!), but who came out ahead? (Remember, tallies start at a 10 blood bag baseline.)
Elena

Can outrun the star quarterback (training is paying off!) +3
Gets the last word with Damon in their jail confrontation +2
Admirably loyal when confronting Meredith about Alaric +2
…but Meredith accurately points out that her character judgment is a bit suspect -2
Is proactive in trying to prove Alaric’s innocence +1
…which leads her and Matt into criminal activity and trouble, and doesn’t help Alaric at all -2
Very self-aware about her feelings for the Salvatores when talking to Matt +1
Dismayed to realize Matt might still have feelings for her -1
She and Alaric reaffirm their sweet family bond +1
…and then Elena finds out Alaric really is the serial killer -5
Score: 10 blood bags
I made these Mint Chocolate Brownies a few years ago - I think it’s time for another batch!
Happy St Patrick’s Day!

In honor of National Pancake Day: buttermilk pancakes swirled with Peanut Butter & Co.’s Dark Chocolate Dream peanut butter, topped with maple syrup. Yum!
Next time I go to a party I must remember to “float” in.

Oh Roald Dahl. His books scarred me for life. To this day I’m scared of getting trapped in a painting.
